CCO 2015 Awards: Outstanding Graduate in Health Care

Recipient: Sharon Feeney, triOS College Business Technology Healthcare.

Sharon graduated from the Community Service Worker program at triOS College last year with a 95% average. During her studies, she actively volunteered in the community, with a particular focus on homelessness. When a homeless program was shut down in her community, Sharon advocated to the municipal government on their behalf. Because of her unwavering efforts, a seven-night-a-week temporary shelter was opened at the YWCA - where she was subsequently offered employment.

“[Sharon] has worked to build trust and rapport with individuals who are often described as marginalized and difficult to serve, encouraging them to maintain and improve their health, participate in programming, and access important services. Sharon is nonjudgmental and has displayed a strong sense of empathy and caring for our patients and clients,” wrote Violet Umanetz, Manager of Outreach, Education & Prevention at the Sanguen Health Centre, which Sharon has been involved in since June of 2013.
